Install Windows 8 to USB disk

目的：將 Windows 8 安裝到 USB disk，並從 USB disk 開機。

需要準備：
1. Windows 8 光碟 (測試過 Windows 8 RTM Build 9200 OK)。
2. USB flash 兩支，最好大小不一樣，其中一支必須大於 10GB，簡稱為 USB_flash_A。另一支簡稱為 USB_flash_B。

步驟：
1. download and install Windows Automated Installation Kit。在 C:\Program Files\Windows AIK 搜尋 Imagex.exe，複製到 USB_flash_B。(會搜尋到三個版本的檔案，如果現在的 Windows 8 光碟是 x64 就複製 x64 的檔案)

2. 用 Windows 8 光碟開機，選擇 Repair Your Computer。

3. 從 Troubleshoot | Advanced options 進入 Command Prompt

4. 在Command Prompt 用 diskpart 將 USB_flash_A 格式化為可開機的 NTFS partition。
diskpart 指令：
list disk
select disk 0
clean
create partition primary
format fs=ntfs quick
active
exit

 5. 用 USB_flash_B 裡面的 Imagex.exe 將 Windows 8 轉移到 USB_flash_A。
指令：e:\imagex.exe /apply d:\sources\install.wim 1 c:\
C: 是 USB_flash_A
D: 是 光碟機
E: 是 USB_flash_B

6. 用 bcdboot 將開機檔寫到 USB_flash_A
指令：bcdboot c:\windows /s c: /f all

7. 用 USB_flash_A 開機，輸入 Product Key (我按 Skip 跳過)，再輸入 Computer name, User name 即大功告成。

實驗紀錄1：
第一次拿 USB 3.0 flash 安裝，PC 主機板只有 USB 2.0 port，理論上應該向下相容，實驗結果是可以安裝，但是開機卻出現錯誤 Error Code: 0xc0000001。

將這一支 USB 3.0 flash 拿到另一台主機板有 USB 3.0 的 PC 就可以正常使用。

實驗記錄2：
USB 2.0 的速度很慢，用來安裝 Windows 8 開機後動作會很慢很慢.....

2014/8/15 update:
今天要做 Windows 8.1 USB disk，在步驟 5 出現 Error restoring image access denied。
解法：
在 Windows 7  64-bit 安裝 Windows Automated Installation Kit
放入 Windows 8.1 DVD (d:\)，插上 USB disk (Y:\)
以管理員身分執行 命令提示字元，cd C:\Program Files\Windows AIK\Tools\amd64
imagex.exe /apply d:\sources\install.wim 1 y:\
