• Open Word 2007 options

• Advanced / File Locations

• change the "Workgroup templates" to your template directory

• You can duplicate the setting by registry export / import. The registry key:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Common\General\SharedTemplates]
